Claymores, bastard swords... true warrior weapons!

Flails would be sweet, I wouldn't use them but they could be linked to the hammer class since they would also be considered blunt damage. Although I would have to say knockdown times would be half since a flail is clearly not as beefy as a freaking maul.

Hand to hand would have to be a whole new class IMO.

Spears... eh, I suppose. Any addition would be nice.

Crossbows... prehaps handcrossbows so rangers could use a shield.

maybe they could make a spiked shield or something that can give attacker like 4-5 dmg whent they attack with melee.

My suggestions.

Fully customizeable armor based on materials. (if I have a feather I can apply that material to my helmet to put it on it...if I have 10 feathers and red dye, I can put a plume in my helmet. Etc etc)

Two handed swords/axes (these would leech off sword/axe skills and attrib and would do more dmg eg two handed axe is 8-32 two handed sword 16-26, so you do more dmg but the downside is... :-o no shield (their attack rate would also be slowed to NOT as slow as hammer, but NOT as fast as regular sword/axe)

Wielding two weapons (you may wield two weapons (axes for example) however do NOT allow uprade stacking, so if u have axe A 6-28 +21 HP and axe B 6-28 +24 HP you DONT get +45 HP, you only get to use the mods on the axe in your right hand. the bonus is u do more dmg, but dont have a shield and so take more dmg yourself.

New weapons: Ranger - two handed crossbow (faster fire rate, reduced range, reduced max dmg to 14-26) Warrior - Staff/Spear handles like a hammer, SLOW, but unlike hammer you can wield a shield, the spear would have 14-27 dmg so it's more of a defence weapon.

these are all my ideas, obviously if implemented youd have to play test them to balance them out etc.

Id like these additions. Ya going all hand to hand against an armored apponent might not be realistic but this is a fantasy game.

This is a great topic. I think that when they add new professions in later chapters that new weapons will come along with those. I would really love to see a Nec female and a Mes female go hand to hand, lol. And the whole idea about 1 handed hammers, 2 handed swords/axes is awesome. More customized characters for very little effort. Obviously 2 handeds are slower and 1 handeds do less damage, but all 3 already have attribute slots. As for Casters, I would like to see familiars. Birds or such that can hold enchantments or energy or extra spells (would take up skill slot/not aggressive, that would detract from Rangers pets). Not much you can do about caster weapons, just give us a better fireworks show.

How about weapons that require more than one attribute? And with cross class skills linked to such weapons?

For example:

Soul Reaping + Swordsmanship
Soul Reaping Blade
Soul Reaver

Fire Magic + Swordsmanship
(weapons with inherent fire damage)
Lava Blade
Magma Sword
Volcanic Gladius

(two-handed heavy weapons, inherent % to do armor penetration)
Strength + Swordsmanship
Great Swords
Executioner Sword
Strength + Axe
Executioner Axe
Hellspawn Axe
Strength + Marksmanship
Heavy Crossbow
Balista
Buriza (Diablo2 lol)

(weapons of the wilds)
Swordsmanship + Wilderness Survival
Spider Fang Sword (inherent poisoner mod)
Tiger Tooth Blade (inherent barbed mod)

etc etc

Cheers.

I like that idea. Dual requirements. And they sound pretty cool looking too.

i really like the idea of unarmed fighting (or gauntlets, claws etc). I came to Guild wars from Neverwinter Nights where i always played as a monk (cool unarmed fighter NOT healer) because a monks superfast but low damage attack style appealed to my general gaming style.

As for some suggestions being dismissed as unrealistic (especially the mages in melee idea) not everybody wants to be necessarily effective in combat, some just want to look cool. Why else would there be a demand for stormbows and fell blades?

For some weapons ideas, i think new professions would be needed. The dual wielding demand is one i am definitely supprting but in the hands of a mobile wall like the warrior two swords would be a major balance problem. The addition of a thief class (or ninja *groan*, martial artist, any kind of light infantry), lightly armored fighters with scarily fast attacks could be perfect for dual wielding and would also help a problem Areanet are having with an asian conversion (apparently in japan and china the warrior class is considered an american red-neck, not really that heroic)

One last point, Rangers need a melee weapon! they have the 2nd strongest armour but they stay at long range and MUST have marksmanship power. This is a class that would deserve Claw weapons, they could be tied to the beast mastery skill and could reflect the more bestial rangers (like mine!)

Ooops I forogt one idea, as a supplement to 2 handed items like staffs or hammers, how about something similiar to '"Ioun Stones", they float around char, would go in shield slot, and would have a variety of colors/effects

I personally love the idea of a small hand crossbow/shield combi. Gimme gimme

well, simply making the off-hand wepon of the dual weilding character do less damage, because, ok, people, how many fighters practice with a long and short blade, other that mad Harco heirs with a thing about white and black gloves?

unless you trained, lots! you would have a main had and an off hand...like right and left handed. only the ambidextrous can use off hand wepons at same stats, and the best way to sort that out is that you cant use a normal wepon in your off hand, it HAS to be a off hand version of the wepon.

just a slight drop in attack ect, and it would be balanceable.

i would like whips....we have the leather, the metal and the bone stuff, so where are the necro babes whips?

I just wanted to extend on this now i've had some time to think about it.

I still think claws for rangers would be a good addition and they could be tied to Beast Mastery. Of course, the addition of a new melee weapon for a class would require new skills to make it worth while but instead of new skills, a ranger using claws could instead use pet attack skills (a severely underused skill set among rangers) himself, thus bringing some popularity back to beast mastery and giving a ranger a more feral, loner feeling.

i think I got the idea. A weapon that is suited for both of your professions. i think that is cool and beneficiary.

we really need a weapon crafter for this.

I like the hand-to-hand idea, and mabey a 2-handed sword and axe would be nice (increased damage as opposed to shield), but how would they balance that with hammer? Give hammer a one handed option? Would be kinda stupid to see someone walking around with a mallet =/

For those who say H2H wouldn't work because of armor like Platemail and whatnot, let me ask you this - how does a sword or hammer work against it? The Platemail looks like it's about 2 inches thick, you can tell by the plate's by the head of the armor. How can a sword even make a dent in it, let alone do damage to someone who is inside of it?

Let me tell you how - because it is a fantasy game. Last time I checked, I've never seen a Warrior wearing hundreds of pounds of steel armor slaying a 20-foot dragon with a hammer.

Hand-2-Hand worked in FFXI, Lineage 2, and Ragnarok Online, Phantasy Star Online, as well as countless other RPGs. Why wouldn't it work here?

The idea is that these warriors have super-human stregnth because it is a fantasy game.

Yeah I'd like to murder someone with a zweihander or flamberge as well, but I don't know exactly how 2 handed weapons would fit into balance and the sword attribute.

well, 2 haded swords, specialy the larger and longer ones, are slower.

a hand-and-half (basterd sword) takes slightly longer to swing than a simple longsword...
have you ever tried the two longer swords from a diasho set (sp) the longest one is heavier and slower than the middle one...say, the long one being the dai-katana from morrowind, and the middle one being the katana.

so, if you think on it, its just a slightly slower sword. othe thing is...do you stick it on your shoulder, or hold the hilt in one hand and the blade in the other? hen your not slicing em up, i mean ^^

i know a lot of players used to have girl characters in Soma cause the 2 handed wepons made the girls walk in this strange side-stepping walk that made their behinds wiggle...so many players used to stand behind you if you were a women 2 handed wepon user...^^

what up... ive been playing some other games and such... and inspiration struck me here are a few more ideas

1) Lances... like u know the ones they use for jousting would be pretty cool
2) Oriental weapons... stuff like katanas and such might spice things up a bit
3) Dual Bladed swords... u know kinda like the thing that the one guy from star wars uses exept not in lightsaber form

hmmm... thats about it i really hope the developers read this stuff... peace out
